On behalf of the Organizing Committee I warmly welcome you to the co-creation process of this forthcoming Mass Customization and Personalization Conference 2009 with the theme of Mass Matching through this website. The conference will look at new interesting and innovative ways of matching the preferences and offerings as well as leading-edge examples of customization, non-traditional and emerging new concepts of personalization & interaction and the newest customer-centric innovations.

In October 2009, the conference will take place in Finland, the agile innovation hub of the Nordic Countries and the home of a very strong and active community of mass customization researchers and practitioners. I humbly receive the MCPC torch from our two friends and colleagues, Frank Piller and Mitchell Tseng, who were the innovative pioneers of the community and diligent chairs of all the earlier conferences.

The MCPC 2009 I am enthusiastically looking forward to your contribution to the co-creation process of the conference. You will do this by giving your interests, idea outlines, paper abstracts or presentation descriptions through this website. By filling out your own profile you will also be able to match your own personal interest areas to the most interesting outlines, papers and presentations of the other participants, as well as find new, interesting people for you to meet even before the conference starts.

The website will run from the beginning of 2009 and it will be constantly renewed all the way to the beginning of the conference.

Sushi is a nice example of the MCPC 2009 theme, as it has a clear identity, modular structure, standardized production process and dynamic end-product. Matching is done on site, using sushi restaurants as the service platform. In this spirit I would like to use this opportunity to personally invite you to take part in setting up the most interesting and delicious conference setting of mass customization and personalization sushi pieces and share it with your colleagues in October 2009.
